DIY sump

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum, I have a 150 gallon tank (48x24x30) I have a fish only tank right now and I want to start getting some sps and soft coral's. I just did a DIY 40 gallon breeder sump it's a 5 chamber sump. 1st chamber is the overflow,2nd has (3) 4" filter socks,3rd is protein skimmer,4th is why I'm posting this nothing is in this chamber right now, and the 5th is the return pump. The 4th chamber is kinda small 7x7x15 I want to have this chamber to grow copepods and other bacteria. So I am just wondering what everyone thinks I can use this for.

Put in some rock and keep the top 6" for macro algae.

Definitely + 1. Refugium is a great addition and you've got the space already. Pop on an easy light (maybe use 1/8 Sintra/other material to create opaque baffles, so the light doesn't grow things in your other sections.
