DIY Swirler Stein

dngspot - that sucks. I never had that problem. Maybe I was lucky? These motors definitely have gobs of torque. It sounds like the grease will help. What kind of plexi are you using for the arms? Cast? Extruded?

Andy - You have a way with words. :)

rfd515 - I don't think you can add a dimmer switch to AC motors like these. I don't recall why but I'm pretty sure it's true.

The stuff I used on my original SS's was 1/4" cast. I'm now using 3/8" cast because that is what I had on hand. I *think* cast would be superior to extruded for a situation like this. None-the-less, I'm glad you have been able to solve the problem.

so what would somebody charge to build me one???

i want to mount it in the center of my tank, so near 180-degree rotation would be desired. also would want the downtube to be hollow so i can run the cord for the pump thru it.

so, anybody wanna build me one??? :D

Also got the powerheads/mods,4x4x2 box and the tie end rods. Everything will probably show up by Sat. Can't wait! Everyone get ready for my questions!

Just got my Maxi mods in today. Tried them out and WOW. I have a Koralia 4 and 2 seio 1100 and this thing is way more flow. I might have to add the smaller propeller if I can't keep the sand down. I'm amazed at how small and power, not forgetting cheap these pumps are. Well worth the 80 I spent to get them to me! Now I'm waiting on the motors! Man I can't really decide how to mount them! I have a false canopy that I have to take off about twice a week so Mounting them to that would kind of be hell. The back of the tank is open but don't really see an option here. Any Ideas?

Try putting the big propeller on the K4. It kills the mj mod
