DIY Swirler Stein

Look for a heavy clock motor. They typically spin 2 or 3 rpm and wire right to a 120 plug. I got 4 for 25 shipped from ebay.

Is there a polarity in you motor? Make sure the +/- is hooked up correctly.

I glued my pipe right to the top of my MJ Mod. See if I can get some pics. Make sure your pump is clean, it shouldn't vibrate at least not noticeably.

Nautica, do you have a link to the ebay clock motors? I looked them up and it didn't look like there were any 120v ones that were 2-3rpms, only 60.

My microwave motors were put in service 10/13/08 and have been ticking away 24/7 since then. I have had no problem

yeah ive tried 2 microwave motors now and the first one didn't work at all and the second one worked for about 5 minutes. I'd rather not spend the money on another one trying to find one that does work, if the clock motors are 120v and do 2-3 rpms and fairly cheap, i'd be willing to give them a try.

Link to Clock Motors

This is the link to the motors I used for my Swirlers. I have had one in use for quite a while and have not had even a hiccup. These motors have plenty of torque and you cant hook them up backwards.

i know. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It didn't look like there's a +/- or anything on them so I just hooked up my chord directly to the motor and plugged it in. The first one didn't work at all so I wrote the ebay seller who was kind enough to send another one. That one worked when I tested it so I went about trying to fabricate my enclosure and then when I had it all to a point where I just needed to make the lid, I plugged it in again to test and it didn't work. Tried several outlets too. Just odd.

Hey guys, I have two of the microwave motors still in bags. I planned on making these on my last tank but never did and I'm buying a vortech for the new set up. PM me if anyone wants them

I've got 2 of the motors and was wondering if anyone could maybe make me two for a small fee? Send me pm please and I can ship out the motors to you. Thanks

thats the same motor im using and mine's been running fine for the entire time ive had it. but,....

a couple of weeks ago my down tube broke. i had to re-fab about 5 parts to get the SS back online. well i put it back into action a little too soon and the linkage wheel twisted right off the down tube. i glued it back into place but as i was gluing it i didnt realize that i also glued the down tube to the main housing! so when i turned it on i ended up breaking the down tube in the exact same place it broke to begin with! that all happened today so i probably wont get around to fixing it for another couple of weeks now??? :D
