DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

I think if you had a 2-3 pumps in sync you could create a wave without a box. I can create a wave without a box with my closed loop pump: video

I read earlier its recommended to make the controller first to see if its adequete. Thats what I plan to do...I was going to purchase the 6101 new. Is this pump adequete, it doesn't seem to come with a controller, can I do this MOD with just a brand new 6101, will the results be worth the trouble?

yea i think so. Not onlu can see how it works just the pump alone you can make a fancy acrylic box to put it in, if you want a crisper wave, or you can use it as a powerhead later on or if you dont like the wave ... a heck of alot more than what you can do with just a wave box alone.

build w/ a 6200. This is stock. The wavebox is a 6200 transformer driven by a 6100. The reason for this is the fact that the wavebox controller does not let the 6200 run full speed so a 6200 driver is not needed but you can use it.

I have my boxless Tunze on the left side, upper front. Here is a short video. Sorry for the crappy shot but you can see my sps polyps sway a bit.

deuce thank u for the reply are they bothon the controller or it the one on the rite seperate controll also any other power heads? do u think the boxless mod would work in a 75 with 2 6100 running only want a half to an 1 in wave

The tunze on the right is just on a regular 7094. Only the left is on the diy controller. Should work for your 75. My tank is a 5'X2'x2' 150G tank.

Easily. The length of the tank is important, though, as if it's too long it will be difficult to find it's harmonic (wave pulse duration).

Standard six foot tanks are fine...

I'm using the true Tunze WB and I didn't find it hard to tune the wave frequency. On my 8ft tank it is about 2 sec.

Earlier someone had said that pumps and other powerheads won't affect the WB. They don't seem to affect the WB frequency, but they definitely affect the amplitude of the waves. With all my other pumps off the WB's make 3" waves but with the return pump and CL on the amplitude drops to only 3/4".

I was under the impression that the "wave action" will cause stress on the seams of the tank that will eventually weaken it. Most not be the case, anyone used a WB long term?

will someone build me the controller and i pay them for it through paypal or something.if you dont mind doing this shoot me a pm.

Where do the other 2 pins go on the din5

Nowhere. You can just cut them off or tuck them out of the way.

Do you wavebox owners have any concerns about the stress placed on the tank stand and the potential for a disaster?

Have you modified your stands in any way?

My question is how well the tunze pumps will hold up to the constant on and off. I understand the WB pump is a high volume pump designed to push large amouts of water really fast and then stop. I want to put a wave box on a 8', 300 gallon tank. I have an empty wave box, I just need to fill it with the components. Will the 6200 push enough water to give me a wave in the 300?
