DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

Modifications

Modifications

I am getting ready to build some controllers and I wanted to offer a modification that I intend to use. Instead of connecting the cable directly to the board I am going to use one of these jacks.

That way there is no wear and tear on the board if the cable gets pulled. It also allws you to change cables if you ever decide you want a cable with a different length, color, etc.

What do you guys think?

Also are there any schematics with the LED in place yet?

I am in the process of building one of the controllers for my brothers tank, I have used these circuits many time for various things ( DC to AC converter, Strobe Led, Ect.) I am wating to elaborat it for multiple pumps. What I am courious about it just what the current draw is on the Signal Pins. If low enough I will post my diagrams on what I built. Thanks

You should make a board to control 2 (or more) of these wave boxes for the bigger tank guys....

I am on the fence to buy a tunze w/b or build yours... My tank is a 340... Tunze recommends 2 boxes for a tank my size.

No need, just get two tunze's, make two boxes and get a Y cable. you only need one controller.

Dear xtm,

Can you show us the most update schematic board layout and the parts list ?

And can you show me more details of the electronic board by pic?
I want to follow it to DIY step by step ...
Many thanks.

Thanks xtm. I finally broke from my addiction of watching your YouTube video, - the song, the shiny happy fish, the clever design... Had to stop watching it cold turkey... And here you are- Thread of the Month to boot. Great job, and thanks for sharing a fantastic project.

Xtm, thank you for a wonderful enlighting thread. In our part of the world, it is nice to see how waveboxes are made.
I do have one question though: " I have an almost 900gallon tank, size is: Length- 8.25 feet; Height-04 feet and width- 3.42 feet.

I would really like to add some type of wavebox/ waveboxes to the tank.

I am not clued up in electronics, but would like to know if you might have an idea as to what pumps/circuitry to use to be able to create a wavebox strong enough to generate a wave in the tank.

Again, thank you for a wonderful topic

You could put 2-3 boxes on one end of the tank and use a Y cable to split the signal from 1 controler to the pumps. This way, they get the signal at the same time and fire simultaneously.

hi Peter,

I replied to your PM... unfortunately I don't own a new Stream so I don't know how it can be modded for the wavebox..... does anybody know? I'm sure other folks will chime in to help you.

thanks

Ok, The vids have got me hooked!

I am getting a custom built tank which will be 48x12x12 and one side will be sectioned off to be somewhat All-In-One and that sectioned off part will be the wave box.

What I would like to know is if anyone is using the Nanostream 6055 for this.

I don't own either yet but from the pictures I have found is that the larger turbelle pumps have a remote drive box and the nanostream does not?

Anyone care to shed some light on this before I get the tank made?
