DIY Wavebox Tutorial from start to finish!

i dont think i have a grasp on this yet.i get the electronic aspect,but the simplicity of the wavebox gets me.

does the powerhead push then pull water in at intervals?

From what I think I know, the pump pushes water outof the box, then stops allowing water from the tank back into the box through the pump's outlet.

This goes way back, but I'm still kind of confused about it.
Is it a 1uf cap or a 10uf cap?

thanks dram,i wasnt sure if there was a slot or holes somewhere that i missed..

im not familiar with the tunze to say the least.i bought 5 MJ1200's and still was 1/2 the price of a USED tunze.And still had enough left over for a couple bottles of Jameson's

i do like the idea of a waveboxe to keep DOC's and such in suspension and not piling up between rock.

another question.do you have to use the power supply/controller that comes with the tunze?or can you just use a homebrew power supply with the DIY timer controller?

devgru, I wouldn't know about the power supply, I would use the one that comes with the tunze but a DIY would probably work as they do for everything else ever invented. I'm just building my first wavebox, so I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

also has anyone made boxes of different sizes?all the diy ones i see are pretty standard dimensions.

and has anyone tried doubling the box size and using to tunze?

Again... please can anyone tell me where to connect the led and what kind of led would work for this?

All I did with mine was use 1k resistor and any led I hooked it up like this i hooked the resitor to pin 1 (control) to positive side of led then negitive side to pin 2 (grnd) hope this helps

Thanks again aries. Also, can I use a 22k resistor instead of a 20k? I have gone to 2 Rdioshack and went to thei website and haven't had any luck.

I don't think it will make a big difference either way
as it would be close enough

One more time, thanks! Also, they had a 1/2w 1k-Ohm resistor ans a 1w 1k-Ohm Metal-Oxide resistor, I bought them both. Which should I use?

you could use either but won't need more the 1/2 watt I used 1/4 watt on mine

Do is matter how many volts the .47uF capacitor has? I went to 3 RadioShacks and couldn't find it, so I'm getting it online. Which one would you recomend?

something at least 24v is what I would get I used 50v in mine
