Do Acclimation Boxes Work After Aggression?

For an update, I kept the regal in the acclimation box for 8 days, and then released it into the tank on Friday evening. So far, no aggression from the pbt other than one quick swipe today. I had a mirror taped to the side of the tank until this evening, so the pbt was occupied with an imagined competitor.

I am not sure how much of the lack of pbt aggression can be attributed to the acclimation box, but it certainly helped and it let the regal get used to being in a crowd again after quarantine. Hopefully, the pbt will continue to ignore the regal.

I tried this on Saturday, my large Flame Angel didn't even pay attention to a new very small one. So after a couple of hours of disinterest from all the fish I released it into the tank. All of a sudden my large flame took interest and went after it.

A few hours is definitely not enough. It needs to be long enough that the other fish get used to seeing the new fish, day after day. The fact that your also trying pair means you should even go for longer periods. While pairing my potter's, a much more peaceful species than flames, the female spent over two weeks in the box, and another two or three with the box still in there for her protection (she was left alone while near the box). Give it alot more time, atleast one to two weeks.
