Do all clams require MH's or VHO's?

I would like to put a clam of some sort (I think they're all beautiful) in my 60 gal. but I only have two 10000k's and two actinics. From what I've read all clams require at least VHO lighting. The derasa variety is said to only require moderate lighting (3-5 watts/gallon) on some websites (vividaquarium.com, etc) but others say it needs high output just as much as all the other ones. Can anyone give me a straight answer or experience? Thank you!

I've kept all my clams under 400W of power compact lights, I have crodea (way at the top of the tank), derasa, squamosa, and gigas. (The latter 3 are on the bottom substrate. The gigas was a little stressed out the first day it came and is much better now, all are happy.

Can I get a clam I have strong lighting, but only over one side of my tank. It's a 250 watt de 10k but the sand is 24 inches down. Will this be enough lighting and do I have to feed phytoplankton even though the clam will be like 4-5 inches? Is phytoplankton absolutely necessary and those that feed it, how often and how much?
Thanks.

Running 3 40W and 1 110W actinic, overdriven by an IceCap 660. Crocea and maxima are over a year, gigas 6+ months and derasa about 3 to 4. I think
