Oh and by the way, yellow prawn gobies (yellow watchman gobies) are not sand sifters. The Yellow Prawn Goby diet should include a variety of mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, table shrimp, and frozen preparations for carnivores. It should be fed at least twice per day.

Also, don't treat with cupramine or any other medication until you see a problem. Copper and other medications like antibiotics are actually harmful for fish and do have side effects.

Well, at least I do sorta agree with one thing he/she said. Fish are individuals, just like people, and one size does not fit all. One fish might respond positively to a course of antibiotics, while another fish of the same species has negative side effects and dies. Just like with people. That's why I think it's so important to add any medication slowly and closely observe how your fish interacts with it. And just because he had a negative reaction to the antibiotics found in medication X doesn't necessarily mean he'll have a negative reaction to the antibiotics found in medication Y.

Copper is the absolute worst and IMO should be added the slowest. A lot of people don't even realize that it's actually a poison and not an actual medication. The whole point of copper treatment is hoping your fish can last longer in it than the parasites.

The purpose of fresh water dips for oodinium is to keep your fish alive long enough for the copper to kill the parasites. (Does not work for cryptocaryon, however). I agree that copper is not good for fish.

Drs. Foster and Smith recommends quarantining all fish. I do prefer the protocol in my blog as it does not use chemicals unless a problem is detected. Worth a read.

While I do not know who started this method, (I have read a ton of the marine biology papers), I first ran across it in a paper by Colorni written in 1987.
