Do fish care about high alk?

My tank crashed, and I've changed out most of the water with IO. The alk is super high like 6 meg/l . I have no corals or clams. But I do have fish on the way, if the fish don't care I'll leave well enough alone. If not is there a safe way to lower it?

I do not actually know, but I'd guess that 6 meq/L is not a big problem.
Anyone else?
