bought a squamosa and a maxima about three weeks ago, the max is doing fine but the squamosa quit opening all the way.the shop where i bought it told me to feed it some silersides once a week, should i do this?water tests fine and they are under 2 175 mh and 300 watts of pc.

if they told you to feed your clam silversides find a new LFS.

clams are primarily photosynthetic and will get all they need from light. if you have fish in you tank and feed them regularly there should be plenty of nutrients in the water for the clams.

i would check the squamosa for pyram snails.

they are 15k xm bulbs.i moved it to a difeferent spot last night and it seems to be doing better.it may have been to close to my stripped mushroooms.

A little phytoplankton is nice, and supports pods and other creatures too. I have a clam in a reef, and it responds to phyto quite readily.

you should have to feed clams unless they are under 2 inches
i don't think you worded that correctly.

clams don't NEED to be feed phyto. IMO it definitely helps and i think my clams ( and pods etc ) really love it.

it makes me shudder to think some poor clam out there is having a silverside jammed in his face  bad LFS.
