today i saw a green worm like thing in my tank. it was long and had a shrimp tail. the head looks weird looks like it opens up and has a lot of legs that looks a lot like legs of a shrimp. is this a mantis shrimp? i tried using the bottle trick but no luck. is there any other way to catch the mantis?

Without a pic, its hard to tell what you have...try to google 'mantis shrimp' pics and see if you can get a positive ID. Also you should hear clicking from your tank at night if it is a mantis...

i haev apicture.. but a really bad one. its small, unfocused, and can barely see it.
i dont hear clicking sound
the thing i saw had the body of a shrimp/lobster
head looks funny, kinda looked liek a worm looking thing. it seemed liek the mouth of hte worm was opening at me. if it wasnt a mouth opening then it may the the mantis' arm moving around the head.
i tried grabbing it with a clamp. it starred at my clamp, attked my clamp and ran away.
im puzzled.

and i looked on google. thast why i think its a mantis shrimp.

it looked like on to a certain point. i cant really rmbr how the head looks like and thats the only part making me wonder if it is a mantis shrimp.

it was not colourful, it was a dull green throughout the body.

Mantis shrimps comes in "two" flavors...smashers and spearers. I have a smasher in her own tank and hear clicking everytime she works on her burrow. If you have a spearer, you probably won't hear any clicking sounds since they don't usually burrow into rock, they usually burrow into sand...
