Do I have problem?

Today I decided to take a picture of my Midas Blenny in QT and noticed some spots on its face. The spots looked raised but I have convinced my self they are symmetric which in my mind implies they are part of its coloration.

It has been in QT for almost 4 weeks and is eating well and does not appear to be flashing. It is not as gold as some of the pictures you see online, I suppose it is not happy about its PVC living arrangements.

I'm new to all this and a little paranoid, the last thing I want to do is introduce Ich or some other nasty to my main display. So I just want to verify this is in fact not a problem.

I cannot tell but IMO the only way to make sure a disease doesn't enter your DT is to prophylactically treat with medication. I treat 2 weeks of prazipro followed by 4 weeks of cupramine. I ramp up to full strength cupramine over 4-7 days instead of the recommended 3 days. It is a good idea to get a fish fat and eating before medicating so if possible I keep a fish in QT for at least a week before medicating.

I think so too. Living a while in a QT with PVC shouldn't bother it a bit. Its a fish.

I have been looking around google images and most of the pictures of Midas Blennies show the same spot pattern on the face.

i would almost think that wasnormal.. its so hard to determine disease over normal marking..

i remember when i was new i had no clue about disease and the fish i bought with the salt specs was really cool.. until it died..

good thing to be concerned.. but sometimes it can become stressfull to the fish..

and i agree that all fish should be QT'd

I would say that the spots look normal compared to most other pics I've seen of the same fish.

If you want to make sure, treat with prazipro and a copper based medication or the TT method to make sure. Better safe than sorry.

I am currently using cupramine for ICH, and I will use the TT method prior to them being introduce back into my DT.
