Do I have to have it connected to a pc

I have a mac and am not sure about parallels, can I fully control and setup things like temp control and ph control without being connected to a pc just fro the base unit?

Yes, this is where the manual actually is useful as it explains step by step how to set things up in the menu driven system

You require

PLM-CondS
and
The GHL salinity probe

You then have full salinity control

There are other options like the EX expansion module that gives you redox, salinity L5L6 and a third Level port
Or
The PLM-Redox-CondS card that gives you redox and salinity off of one port.
