Do i have too much fish?

In a 50 gallon tank i have:
1 pair of clown fish
1 rabith fish
1 foxface
1 hippo tang

2 snails
1 coral banded shrimp
1 fire shimp

I'm new to the hobby and was wondering if i have too much fish? If i dont what fish can i add? And what kind of things should i add for a cleanup crew?

Not too many, but you have 3 fish that will outgrow your tank
Hippo, Foxface, Rabbitfish..The Hippo can get a foot in length and the other two around between 7-9"
All of the above need a bigger tank to avoid stress and aggression and to remain healthy

As long as you have an acceptable nitrate reading, and your fish have enough space to swim around, and don't fit with each other you should be fine. I don't think a regal tang will get that big in an aquarium.

A Regal can get to 1' unless forced to live its life in a tank that is entirely too small..then they just die prematurely ,much of the time due to stress

well, none of my books state a regal tank will get that big in an aquarium, full size is 10-12" in the wild but in the aquarium should not grow bigger than 4-6". Also states the minimum tank length is 80cm for Juv. and 150cm for Adult.

I don't think it is necessary to scare this "new to the hobby" person, making him think his probably small regal tang will grow to a foot long.

I am not sure what book your reading but I have never read anywhere that a Regal will only get 6"..I am not trying to scare anyone, just stating the facts..this subject gets old

Well, the "book" is wrong. I have a 10"+ regal right now, and in an 210g. He lives with a bunch of fish that are all 8-16". So much for books,lol. Takes a long while for them to grow that big though. Started in a 55g and moved to 90g, then110g, and now 210g.

How fast do you think the hippo tang, foxface, and the rabbitfish will grow too big for the tank? And is it worth it getting a regal angel or will it grow too fast?

i say 2 years for them to all coexist.. then aggression and stress will def take over. Regal angels are left to people who have been doing this a long time. They are very finicky eaters, and require much more care then the average angel.

hippo tangs get big, way to big for a 50.

We all kinda left out the clean-up crew question, but IMO I'd add a skunk cleaner for the tangs and at least another 25-40 snails(your chioce as long as there shelled). It all depend on the fish tha'll live in the tank. Triggers like my crusty's, for buffet.

My Regals have grown from 1" to 3" in 8 months.... and continue to grow at a frankly alarming rate...

How big are the 25-40 snails that i can put in the tank? Im just wondering because it seems like a lot of snails. What exactly would the snails eat? Sorry this is my first tank and i'm stilll learning new stuff.
