Do I need an anemone

So I'm thinking of getting clowns, but I don't have an anemone. Is that alright, or should I get one 2?

I have a maroon and gold striped clown. No anemone. He has a spot in the live rock that he "hosts" and is healthy/happy. I will be adding one eventually just because they are aesthetically pleasing.

Not a necessity to have a nem with clowns. Clowns will host anything they feel like, if they feel like it, and they may not want to host anything at all.

It is a cool thing to watch tho if they do.

One of my buddies has a mating pair that hosts a giant toadstool. Pretty cool at night to watch the toadstool close up around them.
