Do I need to QT coral?

Hey, I was just wondering, is it a good idea to QT coral? Or can I just place it straight into my display tank? I know some people say they can carry Ich in which I'm afraid of and I want to avoid bringing in anything bad into the display tank.

I was wondering cause I don't have extra lights to QT the coral in, and I want to avoid buying an expensive light fixture just to QT them. But I guess if it must be done it must be done ...
