My neighbor has a new tank about 3 weeks old one of the reasons I started Mine he went yesterday and got the damsel clown fish Did the 45 minute water drip into a bucket with the fish to make him used to the water. But as soon as he put the fish in the water and 4 hours lateer the fish was sitting in the back on the bottom of the tank .I told him it was probably getting used to the tank but wanted to make sure?

Of course they hide, wouldn't you ? Until they're sure there's no predator that's planning to invite them to lunch hiding is the best option.

I've had fish hide in a corner behind a pump for a week, as long as you can sneak some food to them while keeping the other fish away, and if they eat then they'l probally be ok

three weeks is still early to be adding fish----should start with a good cleanup crew--snails, shrimp etc.

what are your water parameters

i agree, but i have a yellow watchman goby that i only see at feeding time. so to answer your question, yes fish do hide, some more than others

My fire gobies hid for 3 weeks! I thought they jump but nothing on the floor so I figured they died and got consumed somewhere behind the rocks.

New fish do tend to hide, sometimes for quite a while. They've just been through a lot, going from the ocean to the wholesaler to the LFS and then into your tank; a fish's typical reaction to stress and a new environment is usually to hide until they feel safe.

Thanks He started off just as me ;r and ls and we have both had readings of 0 so he dicided to add a fish he went to the lfs and the guy said cleanup crew ok but try a small fish so he got the damsle clown. he was given the brine shrimp frozen cubes was told to cut them in 4 and give one a day Tried it last night the powehead blew it right across the tank but the fish did eat a piecs of eat.

Now I wanna get a fish
