I just received my Sequence Manta Ray pump from Marine Depot. I had called Tech support before I ordered it to make sure that it was wired for 110 volts because I did not want to have to screw around with it.
Well, low and behold, it shows up today and it is wired for 220 volts. So now I have to go out and get a 110 cord and re-wire it (which is exactly what I did not want to have to do).
I call tech support right away after I find my dilema. I was told that you shouldn't have been told that. I was also told that I can't run that pump on 110 volts because it draws 6.8 amperes and 771 watts. Well here is another grade school drop out who cannot read a simple motor faceplate. The motor draws 6.8 amperes and 771 watts on 110 volts and 1/2 of that on 220 volts.
Now fortunately for me I have the knowledge and ability to take care of the problem, but I am sure that there are those of you out there that would have no idea and either have to return it or take it to an electrician to be re-wired. That would be even more of a problem because an electrician would charge you to do it and I am sure that they would charge you more than the $20 credit "on my next order" would be.
Needless to say, it has not been my best experience and I would recommend overhauling your tech support team before they cause some one else more grief then they caused me.
