Do Pajama Cardinal's shoal?

Dang.
I am looking for small shoaling fish other than chromis.
Try other cardinals. They ship poorly, but if your lfs can keep them alive long enough to fatten them up (or you order more than you really need online), they stay smaller and more passive than chromis.

Apogon leptacanthus - i think ORA breads them too =) i'm getting 10-15
Thats a good number to have. The'll look really cool.

Hmmm...thanks for the info but not digging the look of them.\\Any other shoaling fish out there?

As far as I know, only glass cardinals will truly shoal in a relatively small enclosed system (i.e not public aquarium sized)

SeanT, have you seen glass cardinals (Apogon leptacanthus) in person? I agree that in pictures they look kind of dull, but in person they have a cool shimmery, irridescent quality. They are the only fish I've actually seen in a regular-sized aquarium group closely together and approximate actual shoaling/schooling behavior one sees in the ocean.

yes, in person they look really good - surprisingly! 5-7 they will look like crap ugly gray fish... 15-25 and wow! all the silver sparkles moving all close together!

It's like 1 french fry looks booorring, but a whole bunch look YUM!

If you don't like my analogy, swap in the word "cheerleader" =)

you could also go with coral cats they get big but they look awesome when they are in a group.
They shoal when small, but get massive and are very cryptic when large. Also, not so careful... (read: rearranging rockwork by running into it).
