Do ricordia prefer the sand?

Over the past month I've observed my green ricordia tear itself off of the base it was glued to when I purchased it (and the pieces on the base are growing into 2 others), to climbing onto the rock and finally moving to the side of a cliff and attaching a "foot" under it and swinging the head out into the light while the light is on.

Is it trying to get to the sand? Is PC lighting too much for the guy and it wants more shade? It's less then 1/3 of the way up from the floor of the tank and has been in that area for as long as I've had it.

What should I be doing?

Just observe it, not really much else you can do. If it starts to look bad then i would worry.

No, generally my rics love light and stay on the rockwork, not on the sand.

Looks fine. It hasn't split in half at all like I expected it to do though? It was about the size of a silver dollar when I got it. Now it's about double that size.

It has left about 4 little pieces of itself smaller then a dime as it moved and each is starting to grow the little rough bumps and grow slightly over the past couple weeks. Two of these pieces are on the frag disc I bought it on. Another one is where it stayed for a few days on the rock near the frag disc and the final one is about 1 inch away from it now.

But the mother looks healthy, bright green and everything. Just moving around a lot and fairly big and every night it balls up into the size of gumball or so.

I wish mine would cruise around and drop babies off everywhere. I had a hairy shroom do it once but never my rics.
