Do trumpet type corals ingest separately?

When feeding a colony of trumpet type corals, do only the direct fed polyps benefit from spot feedings or is there some sort of indirect absorption taking place so all the polyps/heads receive some benefit?

I ask because some of the polyps/heads are directed towards the bottom of the tank so they never receive any food pellets, etc.

They sound be getting other sources of energy from the lighting as well as the water. Its not necessary to feed them unless you have really low lighting.

They are also individual

They share: that's one of the bennies of being a colony creature. But conversely, the more mouths you feed, the more the colony has.
It does well if perched on a 'cliff' so it gets the upwelling. OR it does well if put on the bottom so it gets the downfall. Easily pleased, that coral.

They dont share. Caulastrea heads are independent from eachother after they have split and seperated. You dont usually have to directly feed them, but they do seem to grow quite a bit faster when they recieve regular food.
