Do you need a heater protector in QT

I'm just sourcing the things I need for a QT but I'm wondering if saltwater fish need protector quards on the heater. I never use them on my freshwater tanks but just wanted to check.

Thank you both for your help. Why do most people recommend a hang on the back filter for QT instead of a internal filter apart from the obvious of it not taking up so much room. I'm going to have my QT permanently setup with no sand and pvc pipe for hiding.

I use internal filters in my QT.
