Here is what i have for flow .
Two tunzes 6100 on a controler and 800 GPH return from sump.
The tank is 99% sps. The tank is 7'x2'x2' 200 Gallons.

if your return pump is pressure rated to around 30ft you can try putting a couple of eductors on your returns.i feel you could use some more flow.

If you run both Tunzes simultaneously you have over 31 times the tank volume per hour. Even at different period intervals as on the controller schedule you have 15+ times your volume hourly. Add in the return for your sump which is 800GPH - head loss and you have absolutely plenty of flow IMO.

31x is still low for all SPS, I'd throw in another tunze or two.

45x is, IMO, the minimum you should have for an all sps system

Zoom,

My tank is a 150 gal and I'm running 3 x 6100 on a controller and a 1200 gph return pump.

I'm still thinking about adding an extra Tunze.........

there is no point looking at the ??x turnover per hour, does not help.

The flow should be fine as long as it is directed over the corals.

In theory you could have a 500g tank and 2 tunze 6100 and it would be fine, as long as it is over all the corals.

Do you have any dead spots round your rock or corals?

Steve, you need more flow? How big are all the frags now? I would probably place one more Tunze in your tank, but not until the corals get bigger than 5" across.

Well you see the problem is when you have the controller on Interval 2 one pump is on 30% the other is 100% so they fighting each other so i get very little flow at both ends of the tank but the center of the tank is very turbulence . I was going to get two more 6100 and use interval 1 so i have two pumps running/pulsing at the same time and at the same size of the tank for six hours and then they will switch over from one side to the other .
Yes the frags are small yet about 3"- 5" but they are grown fast .
You see i had the iwaki 70 for a return 1500GPH so was enough flow and i did not like to have any more because it was blown the large BTA around but i don't have the BTA any longer so i think i have to spend $700 more to get two more 6100 that will do it i think .i don't have the Iwaki 70 at 345 Watts any longer i switch over to Iwaki 30RXLT 90Watts to save some electricity and it work! between the deltec skimmer and the smaller iwaki pump i don't need the chiller any longer so it work great it save me alat of cash.
I Still don't know for sure if this is the right way to do this and if two more tunzes will add to much heat to the tank i don't think so but it may because they will running at the same time at 30% -100% i don't like to put the chiller back up it burns to much electricity .
So keep the ideas coming .
Thank you.

THe point of high flow in most cases isnt to put flow over the corals. Its to keep detritus in suspension. Theres no way hes doing that with that little flow.

Steve,
In the FWIW category, I have pretty much the same flow as you, 2 -6100's and around 800 gph coming from my sump - in a tank about 1/2 the size of your's - a 110. So I voted yes you need more flow.

How are your corals doing?
No problems with the corals so far.

That is correct, i had to siphoned out large amount of detritus every two weeks when I do my water change especially on the corners of the tank ..
So more flow is needed? or change the configuration of the pumps from pumping from the side to the center of the tank 30% 100% ?
