Hello. I'm interested in the above model for my very compact sump. Can you please tell me what the recommended immersion depth is for this skimmer? Thanks.

9.5-11.4" The optimum is about 10-11". The optional sump kit changes that from 4.9-11.4" however the skimmer has a larger footprint and you would be better off with the 9011 which includes the sump kit (extension set 9005.400).

Thanks for the response. What is the footprint with the sump kit added? Does the skimmer perform as well with this modification?

It actually increase the performance a little because without the kit, the skimmer recirculates 20% of the water, with the kit it is 100% flow through. It increase the width to about 7"(a bit less). Just keep in mind a 9006+ sump kit costs almost what a 9011 costs with the sump kit included and a stronger pump and bigger cup. The 9006 is really purpose built for in tank use so the short cup can fit under a canopy.

Ah, i see. The total water volume of my setup is only about 35g, so I'm obviously limited to a smaller skimmer (not to mention dealing with spacial confines of a terribly designed sump--Marineland "C3"). But anyway, thanks for your assistance. When I buy a bigger house someday, I'll have a bigger system--with a Tunze skimmer!
