DOC Skimmer 9440

It is not yet available, I hope to get a limited number of them the last week of this month. We have a sample one we got for MACNA and it is running very well.

The 9440 can handle what size tank? Is it a neddle wheel or venturi design. Nothing on the Tunze website on these so I thought I would ask here.

It is 18.75" in diameter, pumps and outlet included. It will fit in an 18" sump because it is abit narrower on the sides. It is a needle wheel skimmer.

Roger, without revealing any trade secret, could you describe how the skimmer adjusts to the water/air surface tension? Does that mean the cup will not over flow, or in another word the skimmer is self-tuning?

Do you have a projected pricing for this line of skimmer?

It is patented and it is fairly simple, there is an intermediary chamber between the cup and the reactor chamber. The water rises and falls in this chamber depending on surface tension, the air hoses are connected to this chamber and if the surface tension increase it restricts the airflow. The cup cannot overflow because the cup when full collapses the foam column.

They will range from about $750-1800 depending on the model.

Thanks Roger, just read another thread for the answers but your reaction chamber description made it easier to visualize.

No, I have been told I will still get some before the year is over but likely just a handful of 9440's a change was made to further quiet the pump and this delayed the release.
