Does Amquel Normally Have A Bad Odor?

I occasionally use a few drops of Amquel to dechlorinate non-RO/DI water that I use when refilling a canister filter. I have never noticed a bad odor from Amquel, but yesterday while preparing a carbon HOT canister, I opened a large bottle of Amquel and noticed a very foul odor.

I don't recall noting a bad odor when working with Amquel, but I've never made a point of sniffing it. Does Amquel normally stink? I'd hate to throw away an $8 bottle if it's still good, but I don't want to use it if some sort of chemical reaction has occurred in the bottle.

The AmQuel i used had sort of a slight rotten egg smell to it but it did no harm to the tank and bought down those nitrates but im not sure about the decholrinator. Why cant you just use RO/DI water?

I could use RO/DI water, but it is much quicker and less complicated to fill the canister with tap water and add a few drops of Amquel.

IMO it would be best to use RO/DI it may take a little longer but dechlorinator will not remove all the impurities.

I think most of the dechlorinators, etc have a sulfur smell to them. At least the one's I've used for fresh water tanks.
