I don't see evidence of a potassium deficiency from the pics. The monti looks about like I'd expect. Plating montis tend to be "canaries in the coalmine" w.r.t. K imbalances.
If you shut off your reactor to lower the alkalinity be careful. You don't want it dropping too fast or you could cause more recession. I'd say aim for 1/2 a dkH per day or so, definately no more than 1 dkH. Good luck.
