Does anyone have one of these angels in a mixed reef, with softies, SPS, and LPS?

Wanted to get an idea of your experiences.

^Couldn't agree more! Fish is extremely mean. I'm looking to get rid of mine now. Only good thing is it doesn't touch any corals.

I had 2 in my old tank never bothered corals of other inverts. But indeed mean little fish. Gave them to somebody with a large fish tank.

Oh, and they can get 10 years old,... I therefore don't believe in the add as last fish theory :)

I have kept them and never observed them feeding on corals. They are very aggressive and I had one that followed my leopard wrasse around and would nip him on the tail just to keep him in line!.................Jim

'Napoleon' was fine with corals, but killed my baby purple tang :angryfire: Truth be told though, I loved the shape and unique deep purple coloration and yellow face, so I do plan on getting another in the future (next time with a bigger purple tang )

As you 'may' have heard...can be aggressive...IMO, find another angel...

You can have mine:)

My experience was a little different than those above. I had one in a 30g cube along with 2 Bicinctus clowns and a YWG. He was the last addition and he was fine with other fish and corals/clams. The YMMV line seems to hold VERY true with any angel (as indicated by the above posts), so keep that in mind.

I have had two (not at the same time), like others they never bothered corals. The first one I had was a bit smaller and never gave any fish problems. In fact I had to get rid of two clown fish that were picking on it. The second is larger and is the boss of tank but other than giving my fire fish a hard time for the first week doesn't bother anyone. It is one of my favorite fish.

Had one in my mixed reef. It would "nip" at my LPS open brains to the point they would not fully open anymore. Decided the angel had to go...tore apart the tank to get him out. I don't know if the nipping actually damaged the corals at all..just ticked them off.

I assume this is about C. Argi. I think there is some geographic variability with these. I had 2 over a five year span around a decade ago. Model citizens in a mixed reef and non aggressive, did well even with a flame angel in a 75 g at the time. Did great immediately with no accilamtion issues.
Around 2 years ago I tried one, purchased from LA. Couldn't get it to eat. Didnt last long. Tried another with same result and gave up. I was stunned that this happened after having them previously with such ease. They are all collected from the Caribbean, but with reports of such a difference in temperment and my personal experience with difficult acclimation (and I was far less experienced back then). I wonder if there some regional genetic variability at play? Who knows but Ive avoided them since then. Did you guys have an easy time getting them to eat etc?
