i don't think anyone reported you. if they know you and sitc they won't mind but these guys are not locals and the need to protect there sponsors. that's what keeps these forums free. people on here really apperciate yours guys help a bunch
You should get your "facts" straight before trying to pass this off as fact.
1. Most all [ua] violations are reported to us by other members. There's 9,000 new posts here a day, our volunteers do not have the time to read all of them.
2. It has nothing to do with protecting our sponsors. Our sponsors are under the exact same restrictions as our members our, except within their sponsor forums. So if one of our sponsors showed up in this thread and said "I have xyz, give me a call", we would remove it just the same.
Again...untrue (really, where does everyone come up with these "rules" that don't exist and then post them as if they are fact?)
A person (defined as not an employee, owner, co-owner, financially interested party...etc) can post those kinds of things within reason.
Example:
"Does anyone know where I can get an xyz?"
Perfectly acceptable response from a "person" (defined above):
"Yea, bob's fish shop has 2 of them".
What would probably be unacceptable from a "person" is:
"Here's the entire stock and price list for bob's fish shop"
or
"Shop at bob's, he's got the best stuff in town" (oh and I get a 10% discount for posting this for him.)

so then tell us what chrisstie did wrong to get her post removed? i wasn't trying to state facts all i was trying to do is stop people bashing moderators on these forums. sorry i tried to help. and i don't work at any local fish stores but to visit them alot and can think of 100 items off the top of my head that lfs have in this area but i would never list them and i don't think chrisstie did either she was trying to help out a fellow reefer get what he was looking for

We all know that Christtie meant no harm in her post, however, I can completely understand where the moderators are coming from.
The idea is that there should be no self-promotion of any kind for businesses on the forum except for sponsors in their designated sponsor forums. The fact that she works there and stated their inventory is enough to violate the rule.
