Does anyone know what this might be?

I have a 2.5 gal and I can see about four of these branchy looking things on different spots of the glass on my tank. Anyone know what they are and if I should take them out? Thanks!

Maybe a Foraminiferan or a hydroid? Is it hard or soft? Can you take macro pictures of it close-up?

Unfortunately that is macro on my camera!
It is soft. If I just touch it with tweezers it comes apart. However it does move, we aren't talking like the Indy speedway but when I leave in the morning for work it will be in one place and when I come home it has moved a few inches.

Do you think it is harmful to my tank?

No, I don't think it is harmful. If you have a friend with a good camera try to have them get some shots of it. It is interesting whatever it is.
