Does anyone need Southdown???

I am going to make a trip this coming weekend up to northern PA and found a HD that has the Kolorscape play sand in bulk. I am going to get 1500lbs so if anyone needs some please let me know and I can pick up some extra. I believe it is less than $5 a bag for 40 lbs and is mixed aragonite and silica in a very white color.

Russ, does this mean that you were able to verify the kolorscape is indeed at least a mix of aragonite and silca sand if not all aragonite? all my searches found people claiming yes and no. with nothing conclusive.

I definitely want some. I would give you a little extra for gas money as well. It can not be cheap to carry a lot of this around.

I have, as you probably have hundreds of posts on Kolorscape and the consensus is that the stuff does fizz when you add vinegar, but still contains some silica. I have not seen a statement from the company for any analysis as to the percent of composition, but I figure that even if it is 50% aragonite that it will buffer better than the pure silica.

Rich unfortunately I do not want to give the location in fear that everyone will flock to the exact HD and there will not be a sufficent supply avail when I get there. I will tell you that there are a lot of HD's in the Harrisburg area that have 2+ pallets.

If anyone else needs some please give me the number of bags.

How many would it take to use in a 40g breeder?

I'm thinking that if this stuff is ok for a reef tank for sure then 2 bags, it it's definitely good for a reef tank 3.

hey russ save your self time i did the pa route and found none but since you are looking for 1500 pound call the company in bristol pa southdown i talked to them and they will only sell it by the pallet and i sure didnt need that much of it give them a call
