does clown fish eat there eeg?

just wonder if any male or female clown fish eat there eeg?? i saw a first batch laying on the rock 3 day ago and still yesterday but today they dissapear,,just wonder if any of the male or female eat it? thanks

I have heard this to be true. Not sure on the circumstances that cause it but it does happen occasionally.

The male will eat eggs that he feels will not survive.

They were either unfertalized, this can happen frequently in the first couple batchs of eggs as it takes time for the pair to coordinate their efforts.

or

The eggs were deemed to be below the males standards, this can happen from the egg being damaged, has fungus or some other reason that would make the egg not viable.

I would bet most people lose 5%-15% of all nests within the first couple of days. The male is constantly cleaning and tending to the nest ensuring only viable eggs remain.
