Does everyone run their skimmer 24/7?

Was just wondering if everyone runs their skimmers 24/7 or put them on timers to run less.
Was curious. And if that was done, could it blow the pump, i have a asm g3, with the sedra pump.

If your skimmer has start up issue then putting on a timer would be a major problem. I would not risk it. These pumps are made to run 24/7. When you turn on your skimmer you want to be there to make sure it is operating properly.

I shut my skimmer down for large feedings...maybe once a week or so when I spot feed everything. No sense in feeding the skimmer. Even then it is only off for 4-5 hours.

Yep 24/7 unless it is stock. Usually the stock skimmers can handle being on a timer. What is your purpose anyways?
