Does ich include fin rotting?

I lost 5 out of six fish a couple months ago. I am starting to think that my fish might not have had ich after all. All my fish that died had fin rotting going on. When fish have ich do their fins start to rot?

Ich and fin rot are two separate issues. Ich is a parasite problem and fin rot tends to be bacterial issue. Sometimes fish with ich can develop bacterial problems from the open sores left by the parasites .. but ich is pretty distinctive and fish with ich normally look like they have dusted with grains of salt.

Fin rot issues tend to go away if one lowers stress, feed nutritional food, and improve water quality ... if those don't work then QT combined with antibiotics may be necessary. A double dose of Maracyn 2 used in a QT usually will handle persistent fin rot issues.
