I was wondering if revive or the pro coral cure will kill red bugs I can't get a vet in my area to sell me interceptor and am looking for another way to kill the pests they are in my qt system on a couple of frags I'm to the point of throwing them in the trash.
What's the best dip? or combonation of dips.
thanks
Phil

both will. You will need a pretty strong solution of the pro cure though. However, neither kills the eggs. Gotta keep, keep, keep, keep, keep dipping, unfortunatly.

Nither will kill RB's, atleast not that I have seen. Interceptor is still needed in dips.

i added red bugs to my tank 3 times on small frags. didnt notice them til after the frag was in the tank. took the frag out, dipped it, swooshed it around really good. and never seen them again all 3 times. it might kill them it might not but it sure gets them off the coral. i used TMPCC

revive does knock the red bugs off the corals but i don't know if it kills them just blow them with a turkey baster and swoosh them around really good make sure you don't dip for two long around 5 minutes is good enough

i/ve found that it does kill them as long as the dose is strong. Especially with revive, you can well exceed the recommended dose.

I use Revive and it appears to knock off anything with a good strong dose but the problem is if there are eggs and they go unnoticed your back at square one

Will a turkey baster blow off the eggs? Are they visible with naked eye or do you need a magnifying glass?

Dip and quarantine and observe is really the best method no matter what solution or tonic you are using to boot parasites off of your frags.

they are noticable if you know what you are looking for. They are little white packets about the size of a pin-head with a lot of little white bumps in each packet. They are also MUCH easier to see underwater. ANd if you spray them with something, you can see them move. They also suspend more than something like sand. Here's a picture.

Best method is to brush them off with a toothbrush but a powerful turkey baster or a pipette will also work.

red bugs do not lay eggs, this is why 1 treatment of interceptor will work!

This is my understanding too. They don't lay there eggs, they carry them.

Not trying to Jack the thread .
I have read that they are live bearers . So one treatment does the trick ? HMM I know of someone who claimed they treated around mid Jan .I know within two to three weeks the tank was ate up with them . I heard this same person had them again recently .
Any thoughts on this ? Does this indicate this person is not treating the tank at all ?

I know from experience that Revive is to Red Bugs like Holy water is to Vampires. It kills them dead!:bum: :bum: :bum: :bum:

After I dip my corals say for about twenty minutes at twice the recommended dosage I see the red bugs dead on the bottom of the critter keeper. Revive should be heralded as one of the greatest creations for SPS keepers. Red bugs carry their young.

I've had issues dipping corals more than ~ 5 minutes. It definitely seems to knock off any and all invertebrates but can be stressful on the coral too...

Did you use an airstone in the dip tank? It seems to make a big difference for me. I just don't want any of those pesky flatworms or red bugs in my system. So far knock on wood its worked.
