Does sand eventually stop clouding the tank?

I just added my cleanup crew and my hermit crabs are stirring up the sand and causing cloudy water. It's a new tank ,does the sand eventually bind together? :headwalls:

Well - I don't know the answer BUT I have a new 55G tank (about 9 weeks in now) with CaribSea "Hawaiian black" sand and 5 blue hermits. They run all over the sand and live rock and aren't stirring up anything. No issues at all.


I'm sure someone here may have more helpful info.

If you did not rinse your sand well then it may get cloudy every time the sand is stirred up a bit. Yes eventually the dust or fine particles will eventually get filtered out.

If you can incorporate a filter sock the fine particles would be filtered out much quicker.
