Does this Cleaner Shrimp Have Ich?

Water parameters perfect, spots have been there since last molt. He seems actively eating, but a little sluggish between meals. He likes to stay in one spot on the rocks most the time.

No one can tell me? I can't find any research online about the possibility of shrimp having ich. Especially since the cleaner is so well know for its ability to clean ich, there isn't much information when the tables are turned. Maybe it was just a bad molt?

I highly doubt its ich since ich is a fish only parasite. While rock and other inverts can carry the cyst if they are taken from an infected system and put in yours they are not "infected" and if the shrimp is not new to your system i would bet its something else. Also contrary to the popular belief that cleaner shrimp and cleaner wrasse clean the parasite from the fish they only clean the outside of the fish. The parasite is under the skin of the fish and the white spot you see on the fish is the damage caused bye the parasite spinning under the skin.

Interesting...

If anyone happens to know what could be causing this i'd be interested in hearing. It's not really an emergency to me because it doesn't seem to be affecting the shrimp much. I'll post back when I figure it out for anyone in the future that comes across the thread.

+1

Its not ich, but could be a lot of other things, microbubbles, sand, or simply the coloration of that individual shrimp.

Spots went away with molt and hasn't shown up again for a week. Still can't confirm what is was, but its gone so nothing to worry about I guess.
