Sad news today.. So Tuesday I got a shipment in from LiveAquaria and one of my items was a derasa clam. I acclimated the calm just like every thing else for 1 hour, then never letting it touch air I set it in place low in my tank. I have just been running actinics for the last few days due to switching around coral and getting new inhabitants. The clam looked good withing a few hours and opened up. The mouth was closed the entire time but the mantle was out but not too far, and was not being blow over by flow. Clam was responding to shadows well as well. Last night when I took a last look before lights out and it looked good still. This morning when I checked on it the shell was open mantle retracted into the shell and the mouth and vent wide open. The shell will not shut but if I brush the tissue of the clam it reacts. I assume it is dead but wanted to make sure there is not a chance or recovery before pitching it.
