Does TTM work for live rock?

Like the title says; is there any way to use TTM to rid live rock of ich ? What if i were to blast em with a good powerhead prior to each transfer? Or is there any treatment for LR that will help speed up the ich eradication on LR?:blown:

As far as I know ich will not survive without a host, that being fish.
While it could possibly be stuck in the crevices of the rock if taking from an ich infested tank to a non-infested one then infest the fish of that new tank.
Have read in some threads where people did a saltwater dip a few times to "cleanse" a non-host item before placing in their tank.

No, TTM only works with fish. It exploits the feeding (trophont) and subsequent protomont stages, preventing them from encysting and reinfecting fish (tomont stage). If LR has tomonts attached to it, only allowing the rocks to set fallow for 10 weeks (without fish) will deny the parasite a host and allow it to die off.

Exactly.

+2 - no rinsing or dips are going to succeed in ridding the LR of any cyst stage parasites.

Put the rocks in 'time-out' for 10 weeks. I did that recently. Good time to add some coral since you will always need to sit them in 'time-out' as well.

Yep. Just set the rock in a tank with water, a powerhead, and a heater for 10 weeks to be 99.9% certain that there is no crypto.

I think that other illnesses will be eradicated in that time, such as brooklynella or velvet.
