Does your flame angel nips on soft corals?

Hiya everyone, was wondering does anyone here have a tank with a flame angel and some soft corals in it, I'm thinking about getting a few soft corals and a flame angel in the future but not sure would this be possible. Thanks in advance.

I have had a flame angel and many other dwarf angels in my various tanks all with soft, LPS and SPS corals and i have never had issues with them nipping at them. you must keep them well fed and they should leave them alone. with that being said every fish is different some will leave them alone and other s will still go after them.

No. I have 7 different angel species, and the only one that ever ate any corals is my Emperor, who ate all Zoanthus and Parazoanthus species...

you should be fine i had several in the past & not one ever picked just make sure you feed well as already stated

I've got softies and lps with a flame angel and a flameback angel. Neither of them have ever picked a single coral! But I keep them super well fed & they have all kinds of live macro algaes in the tank to graze on, I attribute my lack of nipping to my constant feedings

My Flame has never nipped any corals and I have all the usual softies. I feed three times a day, including one daily feeding of nori. I've read that you take your chances with any of the dwarf angels, but that the Flames are the least likely to be nippers.

Oh, I really wouldn't put one in a 30 gallon tank. They are active swimmers and I wouldn't put one in anything shorter than four feet. I understand your desire to get a showy fish for your tank, but 30 is really a nano tank and you should be planning a list of small fish for it. Look into Cardinals, Firefish, Gobies, etc.

You should not get one for a 30g, LiveAquaria suggests at least a 70g for flame angels. I can't imagine one surviving very long in a 30g....

There must be other fish that you like that will live comfortably in a 30g?

I agree with not putting the flame in a 30 gallon nano.

I have a potters angel and placed in qt 30 gal for a couple weeks and it definitely needs larger area for them.

Definitely needs a lot of space for swimming and grazing.

I had a Flame a while back that loved to nip Xenia, Pocclopora and green zoas. He would nip the Xenia so much it would just never open and shrivel away. A large half-black angel I added loved to nip almost everything consistently. Just nip nip nip as it swam. But, back to the Flame, I had it for a few years and then decided the coral would look better without it. And within a week of removing it, they opened and looked nicer than I'd seen them. Now, plenty of people have them without issues, so it's your decision.

Flames are great fish!! When i had my bigger tank i had 1 in their. It def used all of the 120 so i also think it owuld be too small for the fish. Even when it was small it always swam all around the tank.
Great fish though, one of my favs!!
