Dogs & Fish Tank

I know there are many people with cats that stare into their reef tank, but was wondering if I'm the only one with a crazy dog.

Our dog (half yellow lab, half samoyed) seems quite intreagued with the reef tank. In fact he has a favorite fish (our red scooter blenny). that he will follow around the tank...

I've never seen a dog with this kind of behavior... I'll try to get a pic, but was wondering if others had experienced this.

You are not alone. I originally got my first fish tank for my dog......My buddy started a tank and my dog was so intrigued I had to build one for her. She loves it! If I tell her to get the fish she will stand in front of it and stare and follow the fish.

My lil puppy will jump up at the tank when the fish swims closer to the front to get a better look. This is after I held her and stared at the fish with her on a few occasions.

My chihuahua jumps and tries to get my clownfish. I clean little nose marks off of my tank daily.

i've got two pits, the older one could care less, she'd rather sleep or eat, but the pup gets on the couch and watches them all night, she'll follow them with her eyes till she falls asleep, sometimes she'll even get up on her back legs to get a better look.

My dog 'Buddy' checks out the sump quite often. Makes sure everything is running ok and that no heaters have stuck on

I have two big dogs and a cat. None of them seem to pay any attention at all to the tank. Initially, the cat showed some interest, but not any more.

Paco will come into the fish room when I am working on the sump or something. Just to check, I suppose.

Now, my 9 month old son is a different story. :lol:

I know everyone will like this picture... This is my 7 month female boxer. She is full bread with awasome markings... she sits in front of the tank all the time and watches are yellow tang like a hawk... here is the picture.

The Dog in my Signature (Tekken) jumps up on the back of the couch to look at the fish. He follows certain fish around. Sometimes I will hear him bark and I go down stairs and he has his butt up in the air and tail wagging looking into one of my tanks. I used to have a real problem with him trying to bite the glass, he left slobber marks everywhere!!

I have two Pits and a foster Pit. My older female and the foster love the tank my younger male would rather claim the space left on the coutch by the other two....

I don't think my dog knows that we have a fish tank... we've tried to show him before but he's not interested at all.

Maybe when the 180g is setup and I have some larger fish (tangs), he'll be able to see them better.

I have a 180lb Saint Bernard he loves the fish and I have to clean drool each day from front of tank. He also is fond of formula one pellets, he chewed and ate a large bottle one day, didnt seem sick or anything. I just hope he doent decide to go for a swim in my 150 some night.
