I'm contemplating doing a 72-hour blackout to combat GHA. However, I know clams need a lot of light. Will doing this have any adverse effect on my Maxima clam?
It may or may not have negative effects on your Maxima. Clams are each different. There are a lot of variables to consider. Some species can probably take a longer black out period than others. The initial health of the clam can also be a factor. If you think your clam is in good health then go for it. 3 days is not that long.
I've done 5 day blackouts with my Squasoma Clam every few months. He's still well.
