Done with the Drama

I think one of the biggest problems that we face as a club is the fact that the majority of our correspondence is written. People's writing doesn't always convey exactly what they intend it to, and the next thing you know, people are upset and feelings get hurt. When I posted in the thread about the club frag tank, I am sure that some people reading my posts thought I was simply arguing against the idea. However, the truth of the matter was, I was more interested in someone clarifying the idea, because I didn't quite understand it. If we had been in person, it would have been easy to see that I was just confused about how things worked. Instead, I am sure some people thought I was just trying to shoot things down. It is similar to what happened when Ryan (Zltful) made his post that caused all the uproar. The majority of all that was just a misunderstanding.

Therefore, I propose the following: We should use the forum to share ideas and get advice, but we should use actual club meetings for club members to bring club ideas to the BOD. This will encourage meeting participation, and I can just about gaurantee that it will reduce the amount of arguing and confusion in the club. We could even have a moderator, that would keep the discussion orderly and make sure everyone has a chance to voice their opinion. In the end the decisions will be left to the board (as has always been the case) the only thing that will change is the way ideas are presented.

All that being said, I can tell you that Jason has done a great job for this club and I would like to see him continue as president. If he chooses to step down, I hope he remains very active in the club. If the idea I have proposed above is adopted, I would offer my services as the club meeting moderator/facilitator.

this is exactly what I was talking about. I just don't want to see arguments that occur in an open forum. It doesn't look good for the club.

I gotta follow this one. It happens every year....someones feelings get hurt...someone quits...words get said that shouldn't have and the club continues after all the BS is done. For the last 4 years there has yet to be a president that has not publically quit before their term was over. That is too bad! Even though I am out of state now I am still officially a member and as a member and past board member I do not want to see this club portray this bad image. I acctually get a kick out of all this. I know most of the people on here and I really doubt anyone is intentially out to get anyone. It is our passion that gets us in trouble.
