Purplish Body with Brown Polyps Finger Leather

No Picture Available

These Finger Leathers have a have a purple body with brown polyps. It is an Octocoral of the genus Sinularia. It's requirements are about that of most Leathers. It is a moderately fast grower. It tends to vary it's growth rate depending on the individual's tank.

PCs, VHOs, T5s, and MHs should suffice for this coral. In brighter lit tanks, precautions should be taken to make sure that the coral should be acclimated to your lighting. With dimly lit tanks, they should be placed moderately high to ensure sufficient lighting.

Water flow requirements are moderate to moderate high. This will ensure that the Finger Leather has enough flow to capture food and to help shed it's mucous coating.

A sponsor may keep this coral as long as he/she meets the requirements listed below:

They provide the correct environment for it to grow.

They are available to pickup the frag at the meeting.

They describe how it grows for them under their conditions, and what those conditions are.

They promise that once they are twice the size they are now, they will donate a frag to the next person on the Want List.

If you wish to be a sponsor, reply to this list and place your name at the bottom of the Want List. The next people on the list will receive frags from the sponsors when the colony has doubled.

What happened with this Donor Coral was unique. Dustin Combs gave me two large Finger Leathers to be cut up and given away at the meeting to new members. All the new members that wanted one claimed it at that meeting. All the rest of the frags were placed in the COMAS Tank for safe keeping and viewing by all. At the August meeting, no new members wanted to claim any frags, so we turned it into a Donor Coral instead. We gave away all but one piece. That last piece will be for the COMAS Tank.

I'm pretty sure that there were a few more people that claimed some. If you did claim one last meeting, please add yourself to the Have List. If you would like to receive a frag in the future, please place yourself on the Want List. If you were a new member that received a frag back in March, please feel free to add yourself to the Have List if you wish.
