Don't Buy the 150W Won Pro Titanium Heater

I am using a Pro-Heat Titanium IC Heater from Marine Depot WB1117, which is the 150 Watt version.

The temperature control is very touchy. I followed the directions that came with the heater to adjust the temperature. It tells you to take the controller cover off and adjust a pot switch. The reason I did this was because when I put the heater in the aquarium the heater remained on regardless of the temperature.

I've got a hand held (calibrated) thermometer. Once the tank temp reached 76 degrees on the hand held I set the heater dial indicator where I think 76 degrees is at then adjusted the pot switch until the heat indicator light turned off.

(Just as a side note I also have a Via Aqua Titanium heater that I got from the LFS. I did the same thing w/ that heater because the idicator was slightly off. It is right on now and its functioning properly.)

Now back to the Won heater. If you barely bump the dial indicator clockwise the heater will never turn off so the temperature in the tank continues to rise. If you bump the dial indicator counter clockwise the heater will never turn on and since it is snowy here the temperature goes down. Plus I can put the Won sensor in ice cold water and the heater will not turn on.

The only time the heater will operate properly is when it is in its sweet spot. When you bump it out of the sweet spot and in order to get it to function properly again you have the take the controller apart and adjust the pot switch.

I would stay away from the WON heater and stick w/ Via Aqua. Just to have instructions on how to adjust the heater internally to the controller I think is bad; first off the heater needs to be plugged in while you are making the adjustment--so of course I shocked myself.

When I took apart the Via Aqua they had a tamper indicator on their pot switch so once I moved it I'm sure I voided the warranty. But you know, this means they don't want you messing with the inside of their controller for the heater.
