I hope I am not the only one excited about the opening of John's store. Due to work I will not be able to attend the opening. I was wondering if anyone is going to bring a camera and take some pictures? If so could you please post them for the unlucky ones that were not able to attend?

Thanks in advance......

We're going to miss the actual opening and ribbin cutting. The kids are just too juiced up this morning, and I figured the excitement would just add fuel to the fire. We'll probably stop by between Noon and 1300.

Very nice turnout!

Very nice turnout!

There was an impressive turnout for the ribbon cutting and store opening. Lots of MARS members and city representatives.
The store looks great. Very professional and clean(for now!). :)
I wish John and Stacy the best in their adventure.

Iagree, great turnout and really well done store. And I actually bought some stuff, John had some great corals. I don't know if his prices were low just for the grand opening, but if he continues with the pricing that he now has the other stores in our area won't have a chance. Oh, if anyone is in the market for a hippo (small guys), sailfin, or purple tang he had some of the healthiest ones I have seen.

I will have to find out when his LA trips are and camp on his doorstep the next day. :)

I really wish I was there for the Grand Opening. Hopefully you guys left something for me tomorrow.

I had been planning on going for awhile but alas **** Happens and I couldnt make it this morning! WAAAHHH!

hope to get down there and check out the store this weekend tho. Anyone see any pretty Powder Blue Tangs there?

I will second what everyone is saying - great store. What a nice setup and for the first opening day (I bet it was a ton of work) - great selection and prices too. I also purchased a nice softy (forget the long name right now, but the large dark/bright pink one at the back of the store if you saw it). I agree that if his prices and selection stay this nice, that this is the store I'm going to be frequenting for sure. Regarding keeping things clean and priced right (although I would say some of the prices were even too low), if they follow the way his garage setup was - I expect it to remain fairly priced and clean and healthy.

I was also impressed by a wider range of fish selection then I had expected for opening day - makes me want to setup another tank.

I'm definitely all smiles about the new store. Great job John & Stacy, and good luck with the new store!!!

I believe I saw at least one Powder Blue Tang of a decent size.

Ya, donut crumbs.

John said something about more stuff coming in, I can't remember if he said later today or tomorrow.

What a great store..I really enjoyed the setup and how clean everything looked. The coral tanks are great..no wondering how much something is.. and can't say enough about the selection. I picked up a beautiful clam, and turned out to be his first customer..I don't think I'll be shoping any other stores in town from now on.

For those that missed the big opening today - there are still alot of great corals and fish left. John said (airlines willing) that he is getting more corals in tonight. So we may all be there again tomorrow! What better way to spend a Saturday than at a Reef Store.

John mentioned that his live rocks broke, but I did see him bring some from the back of the store for a customer. I think he quoted a price of $3.99/lb (which is $1 more than what he used to sell it for). Even at $3.99/lb, it's a great deal compared to other LFS. The piece that he brought out looked really nice.

I'm looking to get some live rock for my new 120g. Did John have any in the store for sale yet? If so how much per lb?

That should have read "John mentioned that his live rock TANK broke.

I told john to watch for people tring to same money by moving a coral in the $30 section to the $10 section, he said if he sees iny hands in the tank they get chopped off. lol he said that he has a good memory of where each coral is supposed to be.
