Missouri man hog-ties robber
10:39 AM CDT on Thursday, May 29, 2008
JACKSON, Mo. (AP) -- A 23-year-old Cape Girardeau man is going to jail for a couple of months, but at least he won't be hog-tied.
John Rutherford pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of theft under $500 and was given a 60-day sentence.
Last month, Rueben Quesada caught Rutherford inside his wife's vehicle outside a restaurant. Quesada told authorities he was aware of a rash of break-ins and didn't want the suspect to escape.
Rutherford tried to run but Quesada gave chase in his truck, eventually got out and tackled the suspect. There, Quesada hog-tied Rutherford and put him in the bed of his pickup. Quesada drove him to the restaurant, where police were called.
Police say Rutherford admitted to several car break-ins.
