I purchased two juvenille black clownfish on Sept 19th and shortly after getting them I noticed the larger one (.75") had a small white spot on one of his gills. At first I wasn't sure it was anything other than a piece of sand or something but then it got a bit larger and the smaller one now had a small white spot on its gill (I don't think this is relavent but the opposite side). So once they both had spots I immediately assumed ich. I set up a quarantine tank (I originally put them in their own 29 gallon tank but had live sand and live rock along with a couple crabs and snails) and got some cupramine to start treating them the full does was added on Oct 14th. It has been a week since all the cupramine was added and about a month since the spots showed up. The spots did not drop off and have only gotten larger I would say about the size of two large course grains of salt kind of stacked on eachother.
I am thinking that it's not ich but I am not sure what it would be other than a Lymphocyctis virus (complete guess but about the best I can figure)
Parameters of the tank are as follows
10 gallon
sponge filter
heater (keeping temp around 78)
a couple pvc pipes (black, if that's important)
bare bottom
temp 78
salinity 1.024
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate <.05
Here is a video and you can see a bit of the spots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQbRXmQH4vo
