Dormant Aiptasia

Hey guys,

I had a quick question on Aiptasia. I'm in the process of quarantining coral frags and noticed some Aiptasia that popped up on multiple frags over the past few days. I've been diligent at superglueing them back into their holes. Some of the Aiptasia formed near where the plug attaches to the frag. I've superglued those nooks as well. Eventually I want to pull the frags off those plugs and attach them directly to my rock. My question is if I super glue them now to stop the spread and I detach the frag from the plug later on, will the Aiptasia truly be dead?

Thanks!

I'm not certain I encapsulated it, but I did plug all the exits. How long til Aiptasia starved to death?

I’d probably give it 3 weeks? Still would be nervous about it though. Be sure to put frags on new frag plugs if you can before putting them in display. If sps I’d cut off a little above the base to try to eliminate any other pests/eggs as well.

A liberal application of SG gel on the top of the plug should do the trick

Your safest bet will always be to separate the frag from the plug and whatever it may be bringing with it.
